Sunday, June 30 (WEEK 11)

The Bats let a close game become a laugher when they gave up 5 unearned runs in the 7th inning in a 9-2 loss to the Lightning.  The loss dropped the Bats to 1-6-1 while the Lightning improved their record to 7-3.

Don Gragnani gave the Bats a first inning 1-0 lead with an RBI double that plated Ken Kozlik who had singled earlier.  The Bats made it 2-0 in the second when Bob Gurchak scored from third on a wild pitch.

Kozlik pitched three solid innings but was credited with the loss when he surrendered 4 runs in the third.  After holding the potent Lightning offense scoreless in the first two frames Kozlik ran into trouble in a third inning that featured 3 hits, 2 walks, an error and a hit batsman.

Bill Quoss came on in relief in the fourth inning and kept the Bats in the game with a scoreless fourth, fifth and sixth inning.  After getting the first two batters out in the seventh an error and a couple of soft hits opened the door to what would eventually become 5 unearned runs, and a 9-2 deficit for the Bats.
