Sunday, April 29 (WEEK 3)
Untimely errors and lack of hitting led to the Bats second straight 12-0 defeat, this time to the Braves. The loss left the Bats with an 0-2 record while the Braves evened their mark at 1-1. Chuck France started the game on the mound and almost escaped a rough first inning, but bad luck got in the way. France allowed two hits and 2 walks, sandwiched around 2 outs, leaving the bases loaded with 1 run in. The lefty had the seventh batter struck out but a passed ball allowed the inning to keep going and the Braves ended up scoring 5 runs in the inning. France had 6 strikeouts on the day in 4 innings pitched.
The Bats had only 6 base runners in the game and all were left stranded. Newcomer Bob Gurchak collected 2 of the Bats 4 hits, while Bruce Barnes and Don Gragnani had the other two. Andy Liebmann mad a great diving stab of a line drive at shortstop in the third inning for the defensive play of the game.
The Bats next game is Sunday, May 6 at 1:00 p.m. against the Yard Dogs at the Huntley High School JV Field.
