MOULCHIN'S ARM, MARCHIONDA'S BAT PROPELS BATS INTO FIRST PLACE
6/20/2010by Ron Skrabacz
Bruce Marchionda blasted a one-out double over the left fielder's head scoring Tony DiBlasi from second base to give the Bats a 5-4 walk-off win over the Angels.  The win allowed the Bats (4-4) to leap frog over the Angels (3-4) into first place in the 45s Wood Bat Division.

Not to be overlooked was the solid pitching perfomance of John Moulchin who worked 5 innings and allowed 1 run on 5 hits with 7 strikeouts.  Moulchin left the game with a 2-1 lead and in position to pick up the victory, but the Angels battled back to go ahead in the setting the stage for Marchionda's seventh-inning heroics.

Almost lost in the celebration was the fan support the Bats enjoyed on Fathers Day.  The team rekindled the annual tradition of Family Day at the ball park after a two-year hiatus.  Players were encouraged to bring their families and friends out to watch the game and to stay for pizza afterwards.  About 30 fans came out to cheer on the Bats, quite an increase over their usual fan attendance of one or two. The Bats did not let them down putting together a mix of solid pitching, timely hitting, and clutch defense.

For the second straight game the Bats defense got started early.
